Organizations contribute to the professional development of their members in a variety of ways. According to Bray (2002), first of all an organization saves you time and money. It does so because it provides some valuable and services at a reduced cost due to the large number of its members. What you could have obtained at a high price is reduced because often is purchased in large numbers. Time used is reduced because instead of doing things individually, they are done as a group and many people working together can solve a puzzle faster than if one person was working it alone. This is the first step towards professional development. Secondly, organizations also offer mentorship to its young professionals. Mentorship comes when potential meets experience. In organizations, they have the ability to pair you as a young professional with someone much more experience. Learning helps the younger professional grow. When a potential is raised within the organization, as much as the professional develops, organizational objectives are easily met.

 

Scholarships are other organizations contribute to the development of professionalism. This issue presents professionals with the chance to further their education and develop and sharpen their skills. Opportunities for a scholarship are not readily available, so when an organization has such programs it attracts the best people with the right skills. The fourth way is networking. There is no way to develop a profession faster than in a professional organization itself. In summary, professional organizations have a vital role in the general wellbeing of its members. Bray clearly outlines that organizations should not only focus on the professional success of professionals but rather their collective goal. Organizations nowadays should pay more attention to the needs of its work both within and outside the workplace for the organizational goals to be achieved. The webcast has been beneficial to me because I have learned a lot from it. One should engage and invest their talents by joining professional organizations that they deem useful to them. Working as a team or in groups is far more beneficial than working alone. Spending adequately in any professional organization is worth it as it helps not only you to grow but by doing so, we are also supporting younger generations looking to follow in our footsteps whether in the same career line or different. First of all, we must be willing to work then if we combine our skills with of the skills of others through professional organizations, so that we are able to achieve even greater success. The subject of the role of professional organizations in a career and technical education is quite deep. Owing to this fact, it ought to be handled carefully. Professional organizations should look to develop the profession of those under it. For this to be achieved a lot of resources, have to be invested, and support from the stakeholders should be adequate. The name of the organization that I have chosen is The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), whose purpose is the advancement of education in preparing youth and adults for careers. Janet Bray is the executive director of this organization. The organization is aimed at meeting individuals professional needs and to align them with the institutional strategic plan. ACTE is intended for potential job seekers more so the youth who want to join the formal job sector. It seeks to enhance the job performance of its members. The organization is not specifically tailored for any particular group but rather it also works to increasing public awareness; appreciation for career and technical programs to assuring growth in local, state and federal funding for this projects by communicating with legislators and the government.

My interest in ACTE is because of its commitment to enhancing my job performance. It is my dream to develop my talents and master them in an organization that would help me thrive. In return, I would like to give my best to the organization where I work. ACTE would equip me with the necessary skills which would maximize my productivity. Joining ACTE would benefit me in a lot of ways: first of all, because all career fields are encompassed in one great pool of opportunities. Interaction with my peers both in my field of study and other areas is critical. Growth needs not only be internal but external as well. For this reason, I would join this organization. To gain exposure to relevant changes and keeping up to date with current issues is important in our modern world. With this organization, I am not working alone but with a community of people so in the course of interaction a rapport is built with potential employees. Networking and professional development is an added benefit for being a member of ACTE. Some scholarship packages are available for young professionals like me. Getting access to scholarships nowadays is not easy so getting an organization that enhances my chances of furthering my education is something I would not take lightly. I belong to these groups;

The webcast I have looked into focused on the role of the board of directors in the problems of compliance and ethics. The board is at the top of any particular organization. Monitoring and evaluation, communication, training plans and budgets are all measures of understanding compliance and any informed job must asked for them. Playing by the rules should be an issue the board takes seriously. Working with the complete management to incorporate leading practices, for example, looking into complaints, helpline statistics, and reported issues are among issues the board should consider ensuring compliance. All in all the board plays the oversight role, and compliance should be a problem they do not take lightly (McCornick, Biskup, Rossen, 2012). Creating a culture of integrity always has to begin at the top, but it has to include the mood in the middle and buzz at the bottom. Culture is essentially a peoples way of line. It is important for the board to ensure that culture is properly cultivated in an organization in order for it to be successful. Any board of directors has to lead in ensuring compliance by first setting an example then ensuring the culture is properly cultivated to the bottom levels. Personally, my reactions to this topic would not be any different. Compliance I believe is mandatory. As long as you have joined an association, it is only appropriate for you to show some level of respect and play by their rules. The board is the highest level of any organization, so it is their responsibility to use the respect and power that they have been given well by ensuring total compliance beginning with them. This is because they have clearly elaborated how the board should carry out its role in ensuring compliance. There is nothing more the board can do better than what has been discussed in the presentation already. The most important of them I think is setting the tone from the top. Good leaders are the ones who set examples for others to follow. What the speakers had to say about the topic is satisfying to me. I am saying this because they clearly showed how a board of directors is supposed to help in ensuring compliance. Owing to the fact that Deloitte is among the leading companies in the whole world, it provides satisfying information on the whole topic. The information I can add is as much as compliance should be the top priority, dismissal of employees on grounds of noncompliance should be fair. I can suggest board members sit down and hear the employees before passing judgment. Some can be false information, and if not interrogated well dismissal may be wrongful, and this can hurt the reputation of any given board. My uncle used to work in a banking institution for a long time. One day, a fraud had been committed in the bank, which resulted in massive losses. The lost money appeared to have passed through his department and even had his signature on it. He was immediately dismissed by the board for noncompliance only for further investigation to be determined that his signature was faked by another fraudulent member. Even today the matter is still in court, because he is seeking compensation for defamation and loss of his job. Chiefly, I agree with the speakers. McCornick, Biskup, Rossen (2012) have managed to convince me that the board has a distinct role in ensuring compliance with any organization has to begin with the board. Mostly the board drafts the rules and regulations of their association and so it is up to them to ensure the topic of compliance is properly laid out, and ways of dealing with issues arising from the same to thoroughly being checked.
